How much do you need to move?
Commonly known as the 'volume', the quantity of items you need to move is one of the biggest factors affecting your quote as it determines:
- Size of Removals Lorry
- Number of Removals Crew
- Time required to pack and load
- Packing materials
To find out your volume we'll normally ask you to arrange a pre-move survey.
Do you have any special care items?
Some items need a bit of extra love and care to ensure they get to their new home safe and sound.
For instance, we might use a custom crate for a cherished painting, special wrapping for your grandfather clock, special equipment for your grand piano, or even an outside elevator to move things through a window.
How far are you moving?
The distance between your homes will affect how much time we need to allow for the journey and how much fuel we'll need.
If you're moving long distance we may also need to include for our staff to stay nearby overnight if your move can't be completed in a day and they are a long way from home.
Some customers also ask us to make an additional collection or delivery as part of their move, for example from a self-storage facility or second home.
Would you like us to do the packing?
You can do your own packing and we can handle just the loading, transport and unloading, or we can help you with some or all of the packing too. Your choice of service level will affect the time, staff and materials required for your move so it affects our price too.

You can also ask us to deliver packing materials ahead of move day if you want to do your own packing.
Are your homes easily accessible?
Is there parking close to the front door for our removal lorry? Are there any low bridges or narrow lanes we'll need to navigate? Are internal corridors and stairwells big enough to accommodate us carrying your furniture through?
None of these challenges are a problem but they will affect the size of the vehicle we will need to use and the time it will take us to load and unload, so may affect your move costs.
If you want us to book parking permits or dispensation (for streets with restricted parking) this may also be included in your cost.
Do you need any extra help?
Will any items need to be dismantled or taken down before moving day? Our crews can do this for you as part of the move. We even offer a handyman service for more complex items like trampolines.
If you need any of these services we'll include them in our quote so you know the extra time and expertise is covered.
When are you moving?
A bit like foreign holidays WHEN you move can also affect pricing (although thankfully not such a big variation!).
Peak seasons like school holidays can be slightly more expensive than other periods.
